Abi Hunter is a Google.org Fellow working on the Permafrost Discovery Gateway project. She is a software engineer based in Pittsburgh, PA, and works as a Site Reliability Engineer at Google.

Hunter was born and raised in New Mexico, where she spent about half her childhood on top of various mountains. She earned a BA in linguistics and an MS in computer science from the University of Chicago.

In her spare time, Hunter enjoys reading, writing, and running up steep hills. She lives with her partner and two rabbits.
