Aiza Kabeer works with the Permafrost Pathways project to model and understand permafrost thaw and carbon emissions. She brings mathematical expertise to the team, with a particular specialty in modeling and numerical methods, as well as prior research experience in biomedical imaging.
Kabeer has a profound interest in the intersection of mathematics and Earth sciences. She is amazed by the natural world and enjoys both observing and learning about its processes. Kabeer believes math is a powerful language that can be used to better understand the Earth—to the benefit of both the environment and society. She plans to eventually pursue a Ph.D.
In her spare time, Kabeer enjoys reading, film photography, and spending time outdoors with a camera.
