Lyric Carter

Lyric Carter analyzes soil CO2 emissions in burned boreal and tundra landscapes as the Climate Change Analysis Intern working with our Arctic group. She is motivated by the power of her generation to stir others toward collective action to create a better tomorrow.

Lyric will graduate from Tennessee State University in May 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Science. She plans to become a park ranger and eventually run a summer camp that provides low-income and minority families with outdoor recreation experiences and education about environmental science and injustice.

Her name, Lyric, means “happy and full of joy,” and she strives to live up to this name by inspiring others to live their lives to the fullest. She loves to express gratitude, especially for Mama Earf, Yah, her ancestors and angels, and the great sky above.
