Kaeli Bennett works with Woodwell Climate researchers and collaborators to write content about their areas of expertise for website publication. She is passionate about creating accessible ways for all people to meaningfully engage with science.
Bennett has been an active journalist since they were sixteen and they are looking forward to combining their passion for writing with their background in ecological sciences and climate change. She is a rising senior at Smith College, studying biological sciences, English, and journalism. She hopes to continue her education by entering a science writing or communications graduate program to pave the way for a future in the field.
Bennett grew up in Vermont and has played field hockey for almost their entire life. They currently play field hockey for Smith, where they are also an active member of the athletics community as Chair of Community Support for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, a member of the Sport Committee for Inclusion & Diversity, and a founding member of the field hockey team’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Bennett also writes for her school’s student-run newspaper, The Sophian. In her free time, Bennett enjoys being outdoors and playing bananagrams.
