Woodwell @ Mountainfilm

Woodwell Climate returned as a non-profit partner at Mountainfilm in Telluride, CO. This year, we were joined by The Nature Conservancy in Colorado, which shares our goal of inspiring climate action and environmental stewardship.

We hit the ground running with our first stop at Telluride Mountain School, where Dr. R. Max Holmes and Allie Cunningham talked with students about all things Woodwell Climate and Science on the Fly.

The weekend continued with a reception with local donors and friends, and two Happy Hour panel discussions in collaboration with The North Face. These talks featured inspiring champions committed to doing their part to fight climate change—world-class athletes, talented filmmakers, committed citizens, and Woodwell Climate representatives Holmes, Cunningham, and Dr. Wayne Walker.

The team participated in several other events, including a screening of the film Canary, where Holmes moderated a panel with paleoclimatologist Dr. Lonnie Thompson, who has led expeditions to the world’s far-flung polar regions to collect ancient ice cores.

The stakes to protect the world’s freshwater systems have never been higher. The Nature Conservancy’s 2030 Goals for freshwater push us to do more than ever for our planet’s lakes, rivers and wetlands. Unless we course correct now, our freshwater resources will continue to deteriorate at alarming rates and the impacts – including flooding, water scarcity and biodiversity loss – will worsen.

Featuring Dr. R. Max Holmes, Nicole Silk, Pete McBride, and The North Face Athletes Olivia Amber, Tayler Godber, and Jim Morrison. Moderated by Carlos Fernandez.
