I study the hydrology and biogeochemistry of continuously monitored streams and rivers in the watershed of Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts. I use data on river stage, discharge, and nutrients to examine factors that influence estuarine water quality and ecosystem health.
I have assisted with research on stormwater management and flood resiliency in Chicago through Northwestern University’s Center for Water Research. I also worked for the City of Evanston collecting and processing water samples and monitoring beach water quality for six beaches on the shore of Lake Michigan. I am interested in understanding what influences water quality, in order to inform policy that protects the health of ecosystems.
Growing up near Lake Michigan, I have always had a love for the outdoors and water. I recently graduated from the University of Virginia where I majored in environmental science, and environmental thought and practice. My love for water motivates my work and I hope to continue my education by pursuing a graduate degree in environmental science. I am also looking to explore careers that combine aspects of research, policy, and science communication. I believe water is a crucial component to life and I am passionate about protecting waterways for those who depend on them as a resource and habitat.
