Kat Matson is a Google.org Fellow working on the Permafrost Discovery Gateway project. She has been a software engineer at Google for six years, focusing in backend work—first for Google Scholar, and now for product data within Google Shopping.

Prior to joining Google, Matson studied English Literature and Mathematics at Carleton College.

Outside of work, she can often be found reading, watching movies, or exploring local parks. Matson lives in Pittsburgh with two cats who make frequent appearances in the background during online meetings.
