Matthew Gay

I manage the Center’s buildings and grounds, as well as Facilities staff and service providers. I am responsible for the governance of site systems and renewable energy infrastructure and initiatives.

I have extensive experience in facilities operations, especially in the areas of metrology (the science of measurement), preventive maintenance, and mechanical systems. My facilities and engineering background has also provided me with technical and systems knowledge in a range of areas, including mechanical, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, general carpentry, power generation and distribution, life safety, and building automation and controls. It is very rewarding to me to integrate this experience and knowledge with green building and renewable energy solutions, and I take satisfaction in maintaining and improving the Center’s facilities to create a better work experience for our staff.

I am an outdoor enthusiast, and enjoy cycling, hiking, fishing and sailing. I have lived in Massachusetts for the last 30 years, and currently live on the south shore with my family, renovating our home—an 1870’s Cape Cod style farmhouse.
