I map Arctic retrogressive thaw slumps (RTS)—extreme changes in the landscape caused by thawing permafrost. Identifying these changes can provide insights into patterns of permafrost thaw across the Arctic region.

This is my first time applying my remote sensing, data management, and software development skills to study RTS. It’s exciting to be able to bring in techniques and ideas from unrelated remote sensing applications to benefit this research. I feel that my work has the most impact when I’m helping people who dislike working with spatial data—I really enjoy creating tools that make difficult tasks easier.

Outside of work, I enjoy rowing and skiing.
