I support the Evolving Meta-Ecosystems Institute (EVOME) with field sampling and lab processing to study streams and riparian ecosystems across the Alaskan Arctic. From maintaining long term environmental data loggers to collecting insects, I assist with research that is giving us insight into how Arctic ecosystems may adapt to climate change.

My past field experiences have ranged from snow hydrology in the Sierra Nevadas, ornithology and snow ecology in the Rocky Mountains, behavioral ecology in the Chiricahuas, and disturbance ecology in Pennsylvania streams and ponds. I’m intrigued by the interlocking relationships within each ecosystem and how they both respond to and influence the fate of the whole system. I hope to keep learning about how large-scale change alters natural processes at each level of Arctic and alpine ecosystems, and to help conserve these places that are changing more rapidly than anywhere else.

On the rare occasion I’m not in the field or on a mountain, I’m probably painting, writing, playing music, or going for a photo walk.
