Climate change is intensifying risks to economies, ecosystems, food systems, and communities worldwide. Translating climate data and financial risk into actionable resilience strategies remains a key challenge, particularly for emerging economies formulating and implementing their National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), and for communities and governments to prepare corresponding plans.

The objectives of this panel are threefold. First, strengthen understanding of climate-related financial risk assessment and its role in driving adaptation investment. Second, build science-based knowledge and tools for capacity development in developing countries, enabling effective risk assessments and implementation of NAPs. And third, highlight climate impacts on food systems and opportunities to improve Ethiopia’s food security. Drawing from Ethiopia’s experience, the session will highlight effective governance, partnerships, and data use for local decision-making.
