Private Equity Investor
James Socas has invested in, advised, and financed leading growth companies throughout his career. He is currently launching a new investment fund and previously served as managing director in private equity at Blackstone and Investcorp and in investment banking at Credit Suisse First Boston and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. He began his career at Goldman Sachs.
Socas has served on multiple private company boards and as an executive committee member of Island Press (the leading publisher of books on sustainability and the environment), the Potomac School, the University of Virginia Alumni Association, and the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Board of Corrections. He is a senior advisor to the Tuck (Dartmouth) Business School’s Center for Private Equity & Venture Capital and was a member of the New America Alliance and Latino Corporate Directors Association.
He has a B.A. from the University of Virginia and a M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. Socas is a frequent contributor on investment topics addressing climate and sustainability and his writing and interviews have appeared on Bloomberg, Institutional Investor, the World Economic Forum, S&P Global, and other platforms.
